Rotating Biological Contactors

RBC System

RBC's are fixed film biological treatment systems for secondary and/or advanced wastewater treatment. Designed to meet the most stringent effluent requirements, the RBC consists of vertically arranged plastic media disc segments on a horizontal rotating central shaft. RBC's can accommodate flows ranging from 5,000 GPD for small plants to over 30 MGD for large municipal plants.
RBC systems are used for organic carbon removal (BOD), nitrification, or a combination of the two in these applications:

Ÿ Municipal Wastewater
Ÿ Septage Treatment
Ÿ Food and Beverage Wastewater: meat packing, bakery, dairy, etc.
Ÿ Landfill Leachate
Ÿ Pharmaceutical Wastewater
Ÿ Other Industrial Wastewater

The RBC system is also compatible with applications requiring phosphorous removal. The rotation of the RBC unit provides excellent flocculation for phosphorous precipitation.

Sequential Batch Reactors

SBR Technology

Due to this new technology, industrial wastewaters can now be treated biologically in ideal conditions, regardless of flow or load variations. Phosphorous and nitrates can be removed biologically, as well.

  • Achieves nitrification, denitrification, and phosphorous removal (without chemical addition) in a single reactor;

  • Designed to consistently meet site effluent discharge requirements;

  • Provides the ability to change any unit process at any time - to achieve a required effect;

  • Minimal operational and maintenance costs.
