Rotating Biological Contactors
|
RBC's are fixed film biological treatment systems for secondary and/or advanced wastewater treatment. Designed to meet the most stringent effluent requirements, the RBC consists of vertically arranged plastic media disc segments on a horizontal rotating central shaft. RBC's can accommodate flows ranging from 5,000 GPD for small plants to over 30 MGD for large municipal plants. |
| RBC systems are used for organic carbon
removal (BOD), nitrification, or a combination of the two in these applications:
Municipal Wastewater Septage Treatment Food and Beverage Wastewater: meat packing, bakery, dairy, etc. Landfill Leachate Pharmaceutical Wastewater Other Industrial Wastewater The RBC system is also compatible with applications requiring phosphorous removal. The rotation of the RBC unit provides excellent flocculation for phosphorous precipitation. |

Due to this new technology, industrial wastewaters can now be treated biologically in ideal conditions, regardless of flow or load variations. Phosphorous and nitrates can be removed biologically, as well. |
